Even though this model doesn’t have external rear-view mirrors and the lights are painted instead of being plastic, I bought this model as wanted to have a look at a GreenLight convertible and the wheel rims are simply gorgeous!

This particular car was sold at the Mecum auction (famed auctioneers specialising in Muscle and Classic cars) for $93,000

Like
-  Decent black exterior colour with thick white bands on the bonnet / hood & and two white lines (one pinstripe) running along each side of the car
- Chrome look with silver outlining around the windscreen
- Logo and model name stampings:

·         ‘442’ printed on both the front fenders, between the front grill & on the right side of the boot

·         ‘W-30’ printed on the white stripe on both the front fenders below the ‘442’ printing

- Twin rectangular grills with ridged vertical slats
- Muscular & squared wheel arches
- Silver painted quad headlights & red painted vertical tail-lights (2 on each side)
- Protruding door handles on the outside – feel realistic to touch
- Red painted reflector marking on the fenders in the four corner sides
- Prominent sun-visors
- Other details include wipers & fuel lid marking (though no inside rear-view mirror)
- Realistic bonnet / hood with a protruding lip in the centre & twin intake bulges
- Markings for the bonnet / hood open latches on the front two corners
- Realistic folded roof area depicted with raised plastic cladding
- ‘Mecum Sold’ printed on the corner of the windscreen and on the rear number plate
- Dual exhausts at the two extremes below the rear bumper – the exhaust tips extend like two metal pins
- Very realistic looking rubber tyres with treads and sidewalls with the words ‘Firestone’ & ‘Wide O Oval’ in white paint
- Nicely detailed rims with five hollow circles (a very unique design as compared to the normal spoke wheel rims)
- Opening bonnet revealing a neat little engine bay with mechanicals including clearly visible engine with a unique blue painted engine block and round air filter box
- Metal chassis with unique serial number stamped

Could be better
- External rear-view mirrors would have enhanced the realistic quotient
- Lights could have been plastic – atleast the headlights (though understandably the vertical tail-lights are too small)

I had bought this model as my cousin had a similar Hot Wheels when we were kids and I liked this car as it was unique because of its T-Top roof. I didn’t know about its popularity due to association with the movie – ‘Smokie & the Bandits’ until I read about it on the packaging of this model from Green Light, which is a collector’s edition with nice detailing.

 
Like
- Firebird decal painted in golden colour on the bonnet & on the area behind the B-pillar on both sides
- Model name/logo on the front & rear, plus on the front fenders (‘TRANS AM’)
- Detailing with golden paint around the windows, wheel arches and two stripes running along the middle of the car from the boot to the roof
- Tiny little ‘T/R 6.6’ printing (implying at the massive 6.6L engine with ram-air intake) on either side of the hood air-intake that is visible over the hood/bonnet
- Raised air-vents on both the front fenders
- Raised rear section which is quite pronounced as in the real-car in which it acts like a spoiler
- Realistic looking number plate, both at the front & rear
- Opening bonnet with space cut-out for protruding air-intake & revealing a O.K. detailed engine bay
- Rubber tyres with treads on 5-double-spoke golden rims (BTW this car came long before the Subaru Impreza, which popularised / glamourised golden painted rims) – the rims look fabulous!
- Metal chassis with unique serial number stamped
- The car is quite heavy to hold

Could be better
- No Outside Rear-View Mirrors
- Painted lights, though the headlights are just a slit and at this scale the white paint suffices. Also the tail-lights have been painted nicely in a nice broad red band, but plastic tail-lights would have been even better

This particular car was sold at the Mecum auction (famed auctioneers specialising in Muscle and Classic cars) for $4,40,000

Like
- Shimmering dark green paint finish which indeed looks premium
- Intricate detailing with realistic curves and bulges
- Logo and model name stampings:

• Sting Ray stamped on front left & right fenders in a stylish font, though not easy to read
• Corvette flags stamped on the front and rear
• ‘CORVETTE’ stamped on the rear

- Realistic looking curved door area with painted door handles
- Engraving / marking for pop-up headlights
- Sculpted raised ridge on the bonnet representing air intake for the engine (though no real slits, only painted). Plus ‘454’ referring to the capacity of the cylinders in cubic inches, printed on outer sides of the air-intakes – it is such a small print that it is not apparent the first time.
- Opening bonnet (front-hinged) revealing a neat little engine block with chrome carburettor/air intake
- Protruding fuel-filler on the rear
- Rubber tyres on blingy 5-double-spoke alloy-look rims though the tyres look unusually wide w.r.t. the width of the car
- Metal chassis with unique serial number stamped
- Nicely detailed old-style steering wheel

Could be better
- No outside rear-view mirrors (the original had atleast one – on driver’s side)
- Painted tail-lights
